On Saturday, March 24, 2012, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Novices and Postulant Regina departed Manitowoc, WI, mid-afternoon for ‘on the road’ music ministry at St. Francis Borgia, Cedarburg, WI. We packed a van and car with a keyboard, guitars, along with well-marked music scores with agreed on introductions, verses, etc.and headed south.
Needless to say, it was a memorable 5th Sunday of Lent Liturgy for us with master storyteller, Pastor Father Tom Eichenberger presiding at the 5 p..m. Eucharist and the opportunity to pray with many wonderful welcoming people of God. This is part of our vocation ministry of connecting with parishes in areas near to our Motherhouse. We hope our presence opens the door to families to learn more about the vocation of Franciscan religious life. For young women Lent is often a time to consider such discernment. The next step could be come and visit us in Manitowoc. (Click here for details on our May retreat.)
Our road conversation on the way home included recounting Scriptural aspects of Father Tom’s homily that struck a chord with us, sharing tidbits about the people we were blessed to meet, noticing exquisite details about the church building and just realizing what a joy it is to witness as a Franciscan.
Eucharist is a powerful communal experience of spiritual strength. Next month, we head to St. Frances Cabrini Parish, West Bend, WI, home parish of our Postulant Regina Lehnerz.
