Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity invite you to check out an article on Sister Bernadette Selinsky in the August 26, 2012 Zanesville Recorder. Sister is one of four Sisters serving in the Zanesville area in the healthcare ministry. She is chaplain at Genesis Healthcare System, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Correspondent Sis Bowman wrote the article.

Very few people know what vocation they want to choose for themselves until they are out of high school. Sometimes, they haven’t decided even after spending a couple of years in college.

Sister Bernadette Selinsky knew from the time she was in second grade how she wanted to spend her life.

“Being a sister is not an occupation; it’s a lifestyle,” she said. “We don’t call it a career. We call it a ministry. A career is self-focused ,and a ministry is focused on the needs of others.”

A member of the order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Selinsky has served as a full-time chaplain at Genesis Healthcare System for 16 years, but her education to be a sister has been a lifelong journey. Click here to continue story.
