Franciscan Vocation Discernment Retreat Anticipates Year of Faith

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity anticipated Pope Benedict XVI’s invitation to enter into a Year of Faith 2012-2013 when planning our first vocation discernment retreat September 21-23, 2012. We chose a strong Franciscan focus with the theme: You Belong to Christ. (1 Cor.3:23)

Important to this weekend experience was an introduction to the Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. Passages like this one point to the priority faith has in our way of life:

With all the holy Catholic and apostolic Church who wish to serve the Lord, the brothers and sisters of this order are to persevere in true faith.

In addition to personal and communal opportunities for prayer, Saturday evening’s music outreach to St. Louis Parish, Dykesville, WI provided an actual experience of serving others side by side with a Catholic religious community. Thanks to Parish Director Pat Ratajczaka, Father Dean Dombroski and the people of God in this enthusiastic community of faith, we left with our own hearts on fire after seeing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ alive in this evangelized parish.
