Once a year Bishop Frederick F. Campbell hosts a Marian Dinner to promote women religious vocations in the Diocese of Columbus, OH. This means that Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity and other consecrated women loaded up materials, set up booths around the exterior of a banquet hall and were present among young women of various ages, parents,  teachers, principals, etc.  on Tuesday, October 15, 2012 at St. Andrew Church’s Bryce Eck Activity Center.

Sister Maureen Anne Shepard, our Community’s representative on the Diocesan Sisters’ Council  not only invited our Community Vocation Team to travel to Ohio for this October evening, but she herself assisted with hospitality.  The event which drew about 100 people began with evening prayer, immediately followed by a delicious pasta dinner. Participants socialized with the women religious both before prayer and after  planned presentations.

3 points Bishop Campbell highlighted in his after dinner talk highlighting Vatican II Document Lumen Gentium included:

    • Our deepest desire is to do the will of God.
    • We are all called to life, holiness, and to a particular state of life, a manifestation of our own baptismal call.
    • All disciples of Christ, persevering in prayer and praising God, should present themselves as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.
