Franciscan Community Director Comments on Pope’s Resignation

Charlie Mathews,  Manitowoc, WI,  Herald Times Reporter Media,  recently interviewed Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Community Director Sister Louise Hembrecht regarding Pope Benedict XVI’s announcement of retirement on February 28, 2013. Having met him a couple of times, Sister Louise Hembrecht said Monday Pope Benedict XVI is “a very personable man” and the community director of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity is scheduled to be in Rome on the very day his resignation takes effect.

About a dozen years ago, Hembrecht was in small group meetings with the pope when he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and was the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, as well as dean of the College of Cardinals.
