Pope Francis was elected, announced, blessed, bestowed a blessing, paid his own hotel bill, and installed in Rome as servant to the Roman Catholic Church and the World. Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity watched, cheered and prayed.

In Michigan, Sister Ludmilla Gramann was recognized as someone in the Marquette community who strives to advance the economic, political, financial and health status of women. She received a yellow rose from the Zonta Club in gratitude for her efforts on behalf of women and children.
For those who read our Franciscanized World posting ‘#2 How to Meet Franciscan Sisters: NE, OK, KS, IL, WI’, you may wonder if there was any follow up from our recent travel. Well, we were delighted to receive a special U. S. postal service mailed gift from the Oklahoma University Discernment Group, ‘a rosary that one of the ladies in our group made’. We hope to stay in touch with these wonderful young women.
Meanwhile, we will use the rosaries tonight to pray at a Walk for Life in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee beginning at the Cathedral of St. John at 7 p.m.. As you may have guessed, we will walk with our brothers and sisters of the Secular Franciscan Order. Watch for more coverage in a coming Francisanized World post. Please do come join us!
During this week we began planning for our May Franciscan Vocation Discernment Retreat. We sent out an invitation on our Franciscan Retreat Blog to young women ages 18-35 and provided some further discernment helps for prayer. In case you missed our invitation, click here. Friday is a good day to consider the paschal mystery. For women religious this includes the living of our vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. How do young consecrated Franciscan women understand the vowed life? Lastly, Francis desired to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. The Stations of the Cross became his perfect Friday (or any day of the week)prayer.
