Franciscan Sisters Offer 2 Ideas for the Conclusion of the Year of Faith

How do you conclude a Year of Faith? While we wait for  Pope Francis’ encyclical on the Gospel of joy, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity offer two possible ‘good’ ideas.

  • Vatican II DocumentsSister Virgine Van Thull prepared a prayer ritual for the Sisters at  St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, WI for Saturday, November 24, 2013 with inspiration from Father Peter Comeron’s work in the Magnificat, November issue and Magnificat Year of Faith issue. It includes enthroning the Word of God, and remembering the significance of the Documents of Vatican II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Here’s a snippet of that prayer service…

Fifty years ago we had the opening of the Second Vatican Council and 20 years ago we had the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

[Vatican II Documents and Catholic Catechism are carried in and  placed with the Bible]

During this year we have been asked to renew our personal relationship with Jesus and to recommit Jesus Opening the Doorourselves to the Church.  Each day we are called to read, reflect, and pray with the Scriptures and to nourish and strengthen our faith through the Holy Eucharist.  The Holy Father has summoned us “to rediscover the journey of faith so as to shed ever clearer light on the joy … of this encounter with Christ.”
