Franciscan Sister Elizabeth Benvie shares a recent celebration honoring Franciscan Sister Patrice Walsh who served the homebound at Immaculate Conception Parish, Yuma, AZ.
As a part of the year of celebration in honor of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Immaculate Conception parish honored all the homebound and those who minister to them at a special Mass on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
Sister Patrice Walsh was welcomed back to Yuma because she ministered to the homebound of the parish for many years. Sisters Adrianna Schouten and Sister Theresa Feldkamp accompanied Sister Patrice to Yuma for this celebration. The Sisters arrived in Yuma on May 16 and returned to Wisconsin on May 19. During those days many people stopped by the convent or visited the Sisters at the reception following the Mass.
It was clear that Sister Patrice was well-loved by the number of people who attended the Mass and reception. She was honored with a special plaque at the Mass and both Monsignor Richard O’Keeffe, as well as Father Javier Perez gave her special tribute. Sister Adrianna and Sister Theresa also received plaques and heart-felt words of gratitude were expressed for their years of service to the community as principals of Yuma Catholic High School and Immaculate Conception School.
Sister Maria Goretti Scandaliato, Sister Elizabeth Benvie, Father Ramonito Celestial and Deacon Mark Nixen were bid farewell with the reception of plaques, words of gratitude and warm wishes for their new assignments.
Everyone had a most enjoyable time reconnecting and celebrating with the Sisters and all those who attended the festivities that day.
