Franciscan Sister Elizabeth Ann Miller and Philadelphia liberty bellHere we are in Philadelphia. It has been an amazing four days. Since Wednesday there are about 120 Religious from around the country and elsewhere? By now you have probably seen some of them on TV.

It is wonderful  meeting so many people and beautiful families, from all over the world-about 150 countries are represented. Yesterday we met 14 young people from Poland. Although we couldn’t verbally communicate well with them, there were smiles and hugs exchanged. Everyone we meet responds with appreciation and admiration when we share Sr. Mariella’s painting. They enjoy the quote from Michael Fox (Family Ties actor). It is a great way to introduce our Congregation to thousands of people.
Tonight we help to host a holy hour from 7:30-8:30 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and Paul.

Daily we take the train back and forth between Malvern and Philadelphia. The joy and kindness of all whom we meet is apparent and very contagious. We may not have a large group of Sister here but several people have called us the joyful group. That is a bit humbling.

Franciscan Sisters with Knights of Columbus who organized Sister Presence at World Conference on the FamilyThis afternoon I saw a very long line of people. For fun,  asked a couple people in line if they were waiting to go to confession. The answer was YES!

The WMOF Congress Masses are so beautiful. You really get a sense of the family of the Church and the church of the family. My understanding is that there were 1000 priests in the opening mass entrance procession.

Earlier on Monday we we had time to visit some of the historical  sites here. We were delighted to do so.
