It is not every day that Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity are gifted with an Eagle Scout’s project. Required to do something for a religious organization, school or the Manitowoc community, Zach Simmons, a senior at Lincoln High School, chose to create beautiful prayer benches for our Holy Family Convent property.Franciscan Sisters gifted with eagle scout project

Indeed, we count ourselves blessed to be worthy of a young man’s planning, developing and completing such a service project. It was fitting to call a special gathering when the gift arrived to bless and give thanks for Zach and his many hours of work. Franciscan Friars of the Assumption Province Father Finian Zaucha and Placid Stroik were happy to be present and preside at this simple, yet meaningful blessing. Community Director Sister Natalie Binversie and others of our Sisters not only saw first hand the sturdy quality of the outdoor furniture with added wood-burned, religious artwork, but they were able to give personal thanks to Zach and his father.
