Here’s how a recent Ohio county fair became a Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity reunion with friends. Sister Sharon Paul recounts the story.

Sister Sharon Paul and  Sister Carol Juckem were attending the 168th Guernsey County Fair. After viewing the showing of animals, the Right to Life Booth, etc.,  we proceeded down the Lane of Food offerings and came to sit on a bench and pondered , “What for lunch??” A gentleman came over to greet us.  His wife was in the trailer cooking Chinese and Vietnamese food. They offered us  lunch and  told us to return to bring home supper for the other Sisters.

This family was one of the families who sought shelter in the 70’s as they left Vietnam and they were sponsored by St. Mary’s Church and School, Mingo Junction, OH.  Sister Sharon taught three of the children and they are now living in TX, CA and OH and raising their own families.  Their parents, Huu and Trinh, still live in Mingo Junction, OH. Sister Carol also taught at Mingo Junction and many of our Sisters may also remember this family.

What a beautiful reunion of people showing gratitude, generosity and care for others. Our prayers are ever constant for all our benefactors to our Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
