Franciscan Sisters On the Road to Norway, MI

November 03, 2015

On the weekend of All Saints, it was nostalgic for Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity to retrace some of our early Sister saints’ footsteps to Norway, MI. A place  known for pure water and natural beauty, our Sisters served here in 1888-1897.  We volunteered to be substitute musicians for the Saturday evening Sunday liturgy at St. Mary Parish.music outreach 011

We met people we knew, some people who knew others we knew and still others who made great first impressions. Current pastor of St. Mary, Norway and St. Barbara, Vulcan, Father Timothy M. Ekaitis presented us with a lovely statue of St. Cecilia. Parish Musician Mary Jean and friends served a heavenly banquet! High school youth prepared the tasty meal with the guidance of a beloved home economics teacher. Added to our music outreach destinations, St. Mary Parish will be remembered as a prayerful parish community.
