Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were present for a recent closing of the Year of Consecrated Life in Omaha, NE. Sister Elizabeth Benvie shares the event.
Recently, our Franciscan Sisters participated in the Omaha, NE, 10 a.m. Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine church for the conclusion of the Year of Consecrated Life. Archbishop George Lucas was the principal celebrant and the diocesan vocations director, Father Andy Roza was the concelebrant.
There were men and women religious present from across the diocese. Five Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were present (Sister Joy Rose, Sister Sarah Bertler, Sister Elizabeth Ann Miller, Sister Renee Mirkes and Sister Elizabeth Benvie). Following the Mass, the Serrans provided a light brunch.
Sr. Renee ministers as an ethicist at the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction. Later in the day, she gave a tour to two of the Sisters who hadn’t see the Omaha facility.
