Each year Franciscan Sister Roselani Gomes receives Chinese New Year greetings from a friend in Hawaii. This year was no exception. The card with the prominent monkey arrived.
With the blessing of International Sister Students from Vietnam, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity celebrate with even greater enthusiasm. This year’s Chinese New Year began before February 8 to insure that we also give proper attention to the beginning of Lent, and the feast of St. Valentine signals its’ end on February 15.
Door decorations appeared early for each of the 6 Vietnam Sisters. This included special treat bags.
An egg roll assembly line was the first step in insuring delicious holiday eating. Cultural dance created excellent entertainment.
Unlike the Houston and Vietnamese celebrations, classes at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family were held as usual. The Sisters, when they are with their own congregation of Sisters and not attending college, typically enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Click here for more photos.
