University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Newman Center can boast of its’ 17th Busy Student Retreat. (It was also the first for Holy Spirit Parish!) Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Julie Ann Sheahan was blessed to participate in this spiritual experience with a 9 member team who met one on one with students! Wendy Mitch and Father Tom Lindner plan the days to include conversations, individual prayer time, dinner, praise and preaching and daily Mass.
Pope Francis’ declared Year of Mercy was the focus of the week. These day’s themes summarize well the Eucharist Gospel readings.
- Am I up to the test? (Lk 4:1-13)
- A laser beam of a message (Mt 25:31-46)
- Teach me to pray. (Mt 6:7-15)
- Let go, let God! (Lk 11:29-32)
- Ask, and you will receive. Seek and you will find. (Mt 7:7-11)
Students were encouraged to pour themselves into their personal journeys, to embrace adverse circumstances with trust, knowing nothing can separate us from the peace that God offers.
