Franciscan Sisters were present for a Walk for Vocations on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 at the Cofrin Arboretum Conservation Trail at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay campus. Estro Vir, a Catholic men’s group based in Green Bay, WI, hosted the two-mile walk which was an opportunity to meet with diocesan seminarians and hear their stories.
Special to the event was a stop on the trail at the Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua, a chapel built in 1925 in the woods by Joseph Le Mieux and Fabian La Plant at the request of Odile Le Mieux, the wife of Joseph. A place for her son, Diocesan priest Father Ed Le Mieux to pray and say mass when he visited, it has since become a sanctuary for many a soul to ponder and add their petitions for others.
Le Mieux’s descendents, the Jadin family, and volunteers continue to maintain the contemplative spot.
Franciscan Sisters were blessed to also enjoy a visit with the brother and sister in law of former Norbertine Chaplain, Father Sam Jadin.
