Franciscan Sister Mary Ann Tupy highlights the recent 75th Jubilee celebration of Saint Theresa Parish, Kekaha, HI.
Saint Theresa Parish in Kekaha celebrated its 75th Jubilee the weekend of the Feast of St. Theresa the Little Flower. The parish committee, chaired by Ms. Lisa Johnston, worked for two years planning and preparing for this special celebration. The event was a huge success and all those who attended were impressed by all the wonderful celebrations.
Friday night, September 30th, was youth night. A talent show of local school children, alumni, and other youth of the parish entertained us with song, dance, and magic tricks.
Saturday night, October 1st, the celebration began with Mass at 5:00 p.m. in the St. Theresa Church. Father Manuel Howe, vicar for Priests of the diocese of Honolulu, concelebrated with Father Boyet, Pastor. After Mass there was a “Pa’ina Under the Stars Celebration Dinner”. Entertainment was “The Kamaaina’s, Frank De Lima (local comedian), and Wally Rita & Los Kaualanos.” The meal was delicious and the entertainment enjoyable.
Sunday morning, October 2nd, there was a Parish Appreciation Brunch served after the 8:30 a.m. Mass. People could choose from a buffet line, pancake bar and an omelet station. It was great food and wonderful music from Kekoa, Kane of Hu’ewa.
The committee was exhausted after all the events but basking in the glow of a job well done.
