franciscan-sister-sarah-bertlerOver the years Sister Sarah has had several opportunities to deepen her personal insights and to share her expertise with others across the United States.  In reflecting on her Vocation she wrote:

I formally responded to God’s call to Religious Life by entering the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.  Over the years, this Community has been for me years of growth in the Lord and in my avocation of nursing. Together, these two areas have opened to me the wonders of God’s infinite love for me and for others and have made me realize over and over again that I, like St. Francis, have been chosen and sent to be an instrument of His peace and love to all people. franciscan-sister-sarah-bertler-tag

Although I love my work and could do it outside of Religious Life, I am here as a Sister because I have been called. WHY I have been called, I know not. THAT I have been called, I rejoice. God has given me the gift of His love in a unique way, and, in accepting it, I have found peace and joy – the blessing St. Francis wished for all his followers. What more could I ask? Only that all others whom God is inviting to Religious Life will have the courage to respond. His love will support them along with my prayers.
