On this 147th anniversary of our founding as a Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, our Sister Mary Zigo continues to celebrate her 100th birthday.
It has been over a month ago, but relatives continue to visit. October 11th dawned as a much anticipated day for Franciscan Sister Mary Zigo. It was her 100th birthday and three sets of nieces and nephews had arrived or were arriving that day to join in the celebration at the Motherhouse honoring Sister Mary.
Sister Mary celebrated with two cousins from Canada and visits from two sets of nieces and nephews before the big day. “God has blessed me,” she says with a smile.
What a blessing to have someone among us who remembers the early days of our congregation. We are grateful for Sister Mary and all the blessings that are ours these last 147 years!
