Franciscan Sister Renee Mirkes shares on Novice Sister Mary Teresa’s visit to the Pope Paul VI Institute, Omaha, NE.

Our Sisters serving in West Point, NE suggested that Sister Mary Teresa pay me and the Pope Paul VI Institute a visit during her Nebraska mission experience. I loved the idea, and decided that, since Sister Mary Teresa’s brother, Charlie Bettag was a third year med student at Creighton University, School of Medicine, it would be just wonderful if we could coordinate a tour of the Institute for both Bettag siblings. Well, good ideas beget good ideas, so here is how God gracefully arranged things. Novice Sister Mary Teresa with brother Charlie

Following a personally guided tour of the Institute by one of our surgical Fellows, Dr. Neil Sink, we were also treated to a personal tour of our majestic Cathedral, St. Cecilia’s, this time by the rector, Father Michael Gutsgell; then to lunch at Charleston’s via a gift card from a dear friend of mine, Mr. Paul Comeau, and lastly to dessert at the St. John Vianney Residence where I reside. I enjoyed every second of our hours together and, not to be trite, but I think I can speak for all involved—the tour guides and those guided—’a good time was had by all’!Franciscan Sister Renee and Novice Sister Mary Teresa2
