Franciscan Sister Renee Mirkes shares on her recent work with the Florida Catholic Medical Association.

Over the past five months, I’ve had the privilege of working with the planning committee of the Florida Catholic Medical Association (see picture). We developed a theme (virtuous medicine) and specific topics, including beginning-of-life, end-of-life, and conscience issues, for their annual retreat/conference held from February 1-4, 2017 on the campus of St. Leo University just outside of Tampa. I kicked off the event with the lecture: Light at the End of the Transgender Tunnel: Making Healthcare Rights of Conscience Great Again! and completed the section on beginning-of-life issues with NaProTECHNOLOGY: A Remedy for the Injustice of [In Vitro Fertilization] IVF. Both presentations were well-received and generated a very robust question and answer session. I was so impressed with the overall dedication of these Catholic healthcare providers to what I like to call “good news squared”: health services that are medically and morally excellent.

Sr. Mirkes will be speaking at St. Brendan Catholic Church, Bothell WA on March 7, but I am unable to attend her presentation. Is it possible to get a copy of her materials for “A Light at the End of the Transgender Tunnel”? Thank you.
