Franciscan Sisters Invited to Totus Tuus Training

Sister JulieAnn Sheahan

June 09, 2017

At the invitation of Father Ben Hasse, Vocation Director of the Diocese of Marquette, MI, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity enjoyed meeting young people who were training for summer Totus Tuus Teams at St. Thomas University, St. Paul, MN. Sister Jacqueline Spaniola and Sister Julie Ann Sheahan arrived in time for Tuesday’s Eucharist and were able to interact with teams at meals, sit in on catechetical preparation sessions and unite in further prayer opportunities.

The next day after Mass and breakfast we were part of the group picture. We journeyed for home while teams left to serve at Feed the Children, a local global hunger awareness ministry.

Dioceses represented in addition to the Diocese of Marquette at the St. Paul training included: La Crosse, WI; Superior, WI; St. Paul, MN and Winona, MN.

Totus Tuus is a summer faith formation program for students in the first through twelfth grades. College or post college age young people apply to spend the summer catechizing at various parish sites. This year the Diocese of Marquette is experimenting with having Totus Tuus missionaries visit family homes in smaller faith communities that may not have many parish members with many elementary or high school age youth. May the Lord bless these humble servants as they proclaim the Gospel with their lives!
