Franciscan Sisters reflect on participation in a recent Catholic Evangelization Studies Course held at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, Manitowoc, WI. Established by Bishop David Ricken, the Catholic Evangelization Courses are a partnership between the Department of New Evangelization of the Diocese of Green Bay, Silver Lake College of the Holy Family and Holy Resurrection Monastery to provide a foundation for the spiritual, theological and pastoral formation of persons in the new evangelization. Sister Marie Kolbe Zamora, chair of the Theology Department at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family can be contacted re: questions about the experience.

“Catholic Evangelization Studies Course was like a retreat experience. Through a series of presentations, each participant was a Disciple on the Way reflecting on the role God plays in the story of one’s life. We were guided in the process to be a listening Disciple. The days clarified that Evangelization is not new, but rather a discovery or a re-discovery of one’s relationship with Jesus. That being true, it is new in the way we proclaim Jesus and the mystery of our salvation through encounter and conversion. There was much to ponder in the review of the Kerygma, the core message of the Gospel, which is the journey to discover, follow, worship and share Jesus.” -Sister Natalie

“I am so grateful that we Novices were able to attend the Catholic Evangelization Studies 1 course. This was not only a blessed experience to meet and converse with people from all around the Green Bay Diocese and beyond, but also a gift to reflect on our relationship with Jesus. Jesus is calling each of us in a unique way to be missionary disciples. While this means that we are truly a pilgrim Church and walk together in faith, we also need to journey deep within ourselves. It is from our personal experiences with Jesus, built through a life of prayer, that we can better share His love, light, and truth.” – Sister Cecilia Joy

”The New Evangelization Workshop was very inspiring and faith-filled! It was about discipleship and the need to encounter Jesus in a profound way in order to follow Him, His Church and His teachings more fully. We are all called to share the good news of the Gospel through the witness of our lives with others. Evangelization is not new but we Catholics need to be more involved in active sharing of our faith and God’s great love for each of us. Jesus Christ makes a difference in our lives and in the world.” – Sister Mariella
