Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity begin our Novena to St. Francis on September 25. Be assured of our remembering your special intentions. If you would like to join us in prayer as we anticipate the Feast of St. Francis on October 4, find a downloadable pdf here: Novena to St. Francis.
Leader: With Christ I am nailed to the cross.
All: In my body I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus.
Leader: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
All: as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
All: Most beloved Father, St. Francis, we beseech you by the sacred wounds of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the living imprint of which you bore on your body, obtain for us the spirit of piety and devotion, love of poverty, humility and self-denial, heartfelt sorrow for our sins, unstained purity of body and soul, perfect submission to the will of God and the grace of final perseverance. Intercede for us that we may be faithful in the observance of your holy Rule and walk worthy of the holy vocation given to each of us.
When the last hour of life approaches, be at our side, ever blessed Father, together with Jesus, Mary and Joseph, that we may die a holy death and be numbered forever among your glorified children in heaven.
Leader: Lord have mercy on us.
All: Christ have mercy on us.
Leader: Lord have mercy on us.
Leader: Pray for us, O blessed Father Francis,
All: that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.
Leader: Let us pray.
All: O God, who had deigned to give us Blessed Francis as our guide and teacher to follow in the footsteps of Your only begotten Son, graciously grant that we, who celebrate his memory here on earth may become partakers of his glory in the world to come; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
