Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity are arriving by airplane, bus and van for SLS20 in Phoenix, Arizona. It will be a time of enrichment, community-building and just being totally immersed among young adult Catholic leaders throughout the United States.
We actually have Franciscan Sisters already on the ground near Phoenix at St. Peter Indian Mission, Bapchule, Arizona. Sister Mary Teresa, Sister Concepcion, Sister Hannah, Sister Pamela Catherine, Sister Elena and Sister Maria Guadalupe are enjoying some Franciscan time at our local convent before arriving at the convention center later today. Novices arrived by plane on Saturday. They will be experiencing life among our Sisters in two of our Franciscan Sisters of Christan Charity mission sites in Arizona for the next couple weeks. Sister Mary Teresa and Sister Hannah arrived from Yuma, Arizona yesterday. Sister Pamela Catherine and Sister Elena live among the Gila River River Indian Community with Sister Carol Mathe, Sister Barbara Jean Butler, Sister Martha Mary Carpenter and Sister Thereselle Arruda. Later in the week, Sister Carol Seidl and Sister Mary Ann Spanjers will join the group.
More adventurous at the moment, Sister Jacqueline Spaniola is traveling cross-country by bus with the St. Albert the Great Catholic Campus Ministry Community, Houghton, Michigan. Presently, they are making good time to Phoenix. Last check in they were on Route 66 stopping at a pancake house for breakfast in New Mexico.
