Thank you, Sister Cecelia Joy, Sister Elena and Sister Anne Marie, for this Gospel story which allows us to see the human side of Jesus and his relationship with Thomas, one of his chosen apostles.
As I listened to your story, Sister Cecelia, I was reminded that EACH DISCERNMENT is a STEP in the journey of becoming who God has created us to be. Taking the first step , namely, ‘going to the convent’ is just that– the first step.
Once a woman does act on her initial discernment understanding, there are many other steps along the way: continual dialogue and learning, personal prayer, feedback from others , all of which assists us to confirm again and again ‘inner peace’ and our desires about the future. Eventually, it becomes crystal clear to us who is Jesus calling me to be!
And don’t forget– Jesus is blessing each one with graces along the way, just as He mentioned He would, in the Gospel of John.
