Pandemic-response creativity led to the first Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity summer gathering in the safety of our convent homes. Sisters logged on more than 50 devices with often more than a few Sisters present early and stayed on longer just to see everyone and offer greetings.

To begin, Community Director Sister Natalie Binversie offered a prayer and welcomed everyone on behalf of the General Administration, Sister Myra Jean Sweigart, Sister Theresa Feldkamp, Sister Leonette Kochan and Sister Jane Kinate.  Reports followed on a communal dimension from vocations to property and building maintenance.  Committees formed as a result of last summer’s General Chapter updated everyone on their initial steps of responsibility.

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sponsored Ministries, Inc. C.E.O. Scott McConnaha spoke of the latest news from each of our institutions. He was joined by Sister Kay Klackner, Tim Loch and Sister Myra Jean Sweigart who offered their comments on topics of mission and matters affecting current affairs.

Later, Sister Myra Jean shared on community living expenses.  In closing remarks, Sister Natalie Binversie also reminded all  that the coming weekend was the scheduled  50 year jubilee celebration of the Lovers of Life (Sister Anne Marie Lom, Sister Christine Stoller, Sister Mariadele Jacobs, Sister Mardelle Meinholz, Sister Maria Goretti Scandaliato, Sister Rochelle Kerkhof, Sister Mary Karen Oudeans). As we yearn to see each other face to face, we unite daily in prayer for each other and everyone in our world. May the Lord bless you!
