October 01, 2022

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature a St. Francis of Assisi Window from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denton, Texas for the Feast of St. Francis on October 4.

A Immaculate Conception Parish Committee, after interviewing five studios, selected Franz Mayer of Munich, Inc., a renowned company from Munich, Germany. Mr. Gabriel Mayer came to study the colors, materials, furnishings, and environment of the church before commissioning sketches based on his observations and conversations with parish leaders. On his visit he remarked on the quiet, open, sunlit, and sacred feeling of the interior of the church, and suggested that the windows could be designed to combine the sense of both traditional and contemporary.

Donations for the cost of each window in memory of a deceased or living loved one have been given by individuals or families.  St Francis of Assis was donated by the Coffey family and dedicated in 2009. Information for this post was provided by pastor Father Matthew Matyrek and Chuck Moore, Database Manager, Facilities Coordinator, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denton, Mississippi.
