Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity recently became Sponsors of Clement Manor, Greenfield, Wisconsin in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Community Director Sister Natalie Binversie shares her remarks on this significant moment in our Community history as we, like St. Francis, respond to the call to build Christ’s Church.
“This is a blessed day in the history of the School Sisters of St. Francis and the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. As I mentioned in the press release on April 2nd, our Congregation’s charism, along with
trust in God, supports our decision to take on the sponsorship of Clement Manor. It is meaningful and important to review the responsibilities we have as Sponsor.
Sponsorship of a health care ministry is a structured relationship through which the sponsor, in the name of the Church, directs and influences a ministry that meets an apostolic need and furthers the mission of Jesus.
Sponsorship of Catholic health care involves promoting and assuring Jesus’ healing mission. Those who sponsor are responsible for the continued viability of the health care ministry, promoting its ongoing mission, and animating its life. Sponsors act publicly on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church and have been entrusted to serve the Church by guiding and overseeing a specific institutional ministry in a formal and public way. – Catholic Health Association of the United States
It is important to remember that we do not carry out the work of the Church alone. The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity do pray for our Sponsored Ministries. In the name of all the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, we ask God’s blessing upon every person connected to Clement Manor. Thank you to all who have worked to bring us to this day of thanksgiving and blessing! Together we will continue the Mission and legacy of the School Sisters of St. Francis. God is with us!
Under the agreement, Clement Manor’s mission continues as its residents’ living arrangements, its name and brand, its operations, and its leadership and staff remain as is. Further, School Sisters of St. Francis who reside at Clement Manor remain in place. The big difference is Clement Manor is now among the organizations incorporated under the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sponsored Ministries, which include St. Paul Elder Services of Kaukauna, WI, another senior living community. The presence of two senior living communities under the Ministries’ umbrella in this region of Wisconsin offers opportunities for collaboration.”
