Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Community Director Sister Natalie Binversie shares her breakfast comments on the morning of Sister Catherine Peter Logan’s First Profession of Vows.

Good morning and Happy Feast of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi! Special congratulations to you, Sister Catherine Peter, as we celebrate your First Profession of Vows.

This day has been three years in coming, since you entered Holy Family Convent as a Postulant. As part of the discernment process and a desire to move to the next step in formation, you wrote a letter to me, asking to Profess First Vows. In the letter you expressed amazement at God’s calling you to be a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity. He knew the time was right for you to be open to the call and for you to say yes. In these three years, you have experienced challenges and blessings. You have observed and have witnessed our Sisters living the Consecrated Life after the example of St. Francis of Assisi and his Gospel Life. You learned that we need one another, living in Community, along with the many graces God gives us every day, to help us grow to our full potential as a Bride of Christ.

As a Postulant, you chose the title, Bridge-Builder: By the Light of the Holy Cross and Word. It was in the writings of your Patron Saint, St. Catherine of Sienna, that you were struck with the image of bridge-builder. Jesus is our model of a Bridge-Builder. He is THE Bridge, the Word that became flesh to be our Light, our Guide.  By His death on the Cross He shed His blood for our salvation.

The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ reminds us of a solemn pact, the covenant Christ made with us and we make with Christ every time we share in the reception of Holy Communion. Jesus is a mediator of a new covenant. Sister Catherine Peter, this afternoon, during the celebration of the Mass, you will enter into a covenant relationship with our Lord by professing the Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. Your Sisters, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, rejoice with you and assure you of our prayerful support as you continue to grow in our Franciscan way of life.

God bless you! Enjoy this day with your Sisters, your family and your friends.
