A beautiful sunny Saturday, March 8, 2025, found more than 50 Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) from the Phoenix Chapter gathered at Mt Claret Retreat Center, Scottsdale, AZ. The theme of the St Joseph’s Retreat was centered around the Eucharist. The day began with a lovely brunch and time to meet each other, Franciscan Friar of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Province Father Page Polk, OFM led the group in an opening prayer. Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Mary Ann Spanjers and Father Page presented, “The Eucharist, From Adoration to Action” There was animated discussion, quiet reflection and inspiring feedback:

“The stories, specifically having Fr Page and Sister Mary Ann sharing their personal background and stories was deeply appreciated, the sincerity show by both was very attractive.”

“This presentation reminded me of a few things. 1) God is not asking for perfection just to turn our hearts to him; 2) The importance of silence in the redirection of my heart; 3) Reassurance my career path is where I feel most myself.”

” My favorite parts were where the life experience of St. Francis was tied back as the “why” and used as an example for the teaching being given about the Eucharist”

“I appreciated the deep reminder of what is central to our Catholic faith here on Earth, the Eucharist; The reminder that Christ is always there waiting for us; The reminder of the beauty of our Catholic faith! All the information about the Sisters and Friars was very informative.”

The retreat continued with Diocese of Phoenix, Bishop John Dolan joining the group. Bishop Dolan shared his seven year “Tilma” plan as part of the celebration of the 500 years of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He invited the young adults to join the movement of the plan as coordinators of the Synodal style gatherings. Bishop Dolan and Fr. Page gave the young adults an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during a time of silent prayer in the beautiful chapel. This was followed by Mass celebrated by Bishop Dolan with Deacon Matt Ryan, OFM assisting.

The day concluded with a delicious Mexican lunch, awards, announcements and time to socialize.
