Home to all of our sisters, residence of our General Administration, of postulants, novices, directresses, retired sisters, and many sisters involved in community apostolates, such as services in our business offices, St. Rita’s Health Care for our elderly and infirmed sisters, dentistry,  clinic, vocation office, archives, etc. Franciscan Sisters who reside at the Motherhouse also serve in various city outreaches to the poor and homeless, teaching religious education, teaching at the Conservatory of Music, working with youth and young adults, providing hospitality to priests, serving at Our Lady of Good Help Shrine, welcoming family members and visitors, hosting Camp Franciscan for young women, directing vocation retreats, hosting meetings, teaching classes, etc. It is a place of prayer, retreats, and gatherings of the entire community.

Healing and wholeness are the concentration of the Franciscan Sisters reaching out to the community as a director of mission and spiritual care; and as sponsored presence. Our Sisters live at St. Paul Convent within walking distance of St. Paul Elder Services.

Ministering in rural WI has always been in the heart of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, so when the Bishop requested one of our Sisters to serve as the parish director for both of these parishes the Sister with the Community responded.

Outreach to Young Adults

The Franciscan Sisters Vocation Team, in an effort to build relationships with young adults, responds to various requests for conversations with religious, as well as being present for times of prayer. These experiences include Encounter Milwaukee, Cor Jesu at St. Robert’s in Milwaukee, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Wednesday Late Night Mass and Busy Students Retreat, Discernment of Spirits Retreats at University of Eau Claire or with Contemplative Nuns in Iron Mountain, MI and Prairie du Sac, WI.
