February 17, 2022

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature percussionists performing music on instruments carved from ice at Superior, Wisconsin. Performers: Brett Jones, Jeremy Craycraft, Henry Eichman, Cory Coffman, Johnny Erickson Special Thanks to: Paul Salmon, Linda Cadotte, Jackie Fontaine, Gianna Jones

Dr. Brett Jones, the Music Department Chair/Professor of Percussion as well as the faculty liaison for Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Wisconsin-Superior comments:

“As any Wisconsinite knows, winter sometimes feels like it will never end as we await the warmth of spring.  In the deep of winter, it’s important to remember that God’s blessings still abound, we just might have to look for them a little harder.  These musicians from Superior, WI and Duluth, MN explore the beautiful sounds of ice during a cold winter day on Lake Superior.  The beauty of these natural instruments brought friends together to enjoy God’s gift of music – and ice – moving them one step closer to spring.”

Ice and snow, bless the Lord! Enjoy!
