Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Sharon Paul shares on the recent Open Arms Pregnancy Fundraising Banquet in Cambridge, Ohio.
The 12th Annual Open Arms Pregnancy Fundraising Banquet was held at Deerassic Park in Cambridge, Ohio. Andrea Woodmansee, Executive Director, and Dr. Patrick Goggin, Medical Director, welcomed all present. “Walking in His Strength and Taking Ground” was the focus for this year’s gathering. There were eleven churches represented and many sponsors including Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Open Arms Pregnancy Center has been helping women and families in Cambridge and surrounding areas since 2012. All services are free and confidential. The center’s mission is to create an atmosphere where every human heart feels valued and protected. At the center, accurate and honest information is shared on an array of subjects including pregnancy symptoms, abortion, adoption, parenting, STDs, and sexual health.
The featured speaker for the evening was Dr. Marc Newman. president of Speaker For Life, a training firm dedicated to equipping pro-life advocates nationwide with public speaking skills. He is author of the book Contenders: A Church-wide Strategy to Unmask Abortion, Defeat Its Advocates, Empower Christians, and Change the World. He encouraged listeners to become a lighthouse and flashlight. The quote from the Gospel of Matthew offers further reflection: “Your light must shine in the sight of all, so that seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.” (Mt 5:16) “It is time to tell the truth and act like we believe it.”
