In 1985, because of the ever-increasing complexities of healthcare delivery in the United States, our Congregation’s various healthcare ministries—which include acute and long-term care facilities, senior
housing and physician clinics—were incorporated into the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity HealthCare Ministry, Inc. Past and present board members, congregational leadership and staff members reflected on the memories and accomplishments of the past 25 years on April 29, 2010.
Jesus proclaimed the Gospel message of healing. Francis did what Jesus would do in his society and embraced the lepers in his day. We have been involved in healthcare for well over 100 years. Sister Louise Hembrecht, OSF, Comunity Director and chair of the Board of Directors, Sister Laura Wolf, OSF, president of the System, issued this joint statement:
“…we are immensely proud of all who share our ministry. Please join us in thanking the Boards of Directors and management teams from throughout the System and from each of the local markets for their steadfast commitment to our values and for meeting the needs of our local communities. Together, as sponsors and leaders, we reaffirm our commitment to remain open to the ways the Lord is calling us to serve in this time and in these places.”
This non-stock, not-for-profit corporation monitors and manages our health care ministry which spans three states: Wisconsin, Nebraska and Ohio.
