Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity celebrate the 75 and 60 years of profession of their Sisters on May 30, 2010.
While Memorial Day recalls the men and women who have died in our nation’s service (a tradition possibly begun by organized women’s groups in the South who lovingly decorated graves before the end of the Civil War), Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity also decorate and celebrate our own tradition Memorial Day Weekend.
On Sunday, May 30, 2010, our Franciscan Sisters who answered the call to consecrated life serving God for 75 and 60 years ago were remembered with jubilation at a special Eucharistic liturgy followed by a festive dinner by family, friends and community members. Bishop David Ricken, Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, was invited to preside at the Eucharistic celebration.
