Manitowoc Serrra Club and Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity not only have a open ‘vocation’ relationship supported by heart-felt prayer, but also they spend meal time together at least twice a year. The secret of this long-time friendship is simply one of presence and love.

Manitowoc Serrans and Franciscan Women in Formation

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Postulants and Novices answer questions of Manitowoc Serra Club on November 20, 2010 at their Motherhouse.

Saturday, November 20, 2010 marked another one of those gatherings for meal time around the altar in St. Mary Chapel and later in our cafeteria. We all get involved. Postulants, Novices and Sisters are found in various places outside and inside welcoming our friends.

In between Mass and dinner, Postulants provide ‘live vocation’ entertainment. They simply share a bit about themselves and are open to any questions the Serrans may ask of them. Needless to say, the time went fast. And the questions and answers are ever seasoned with humor!

This year after a hearty meal, we gifted each of our guests with a plate of homemade convent cookies. We like to present something that keeps alive the ‘sweet’ memory of the day.

The next big gathering of the two groups will be a summer picnic in August 2011 at the Newton Firemen Park.
