Franciscan Sisters Cut into Overseas Coupon Relief

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity are involved in  an ‘Overseas Coupon Program’ that forwards “manufacturer’s coupons” to overseas military bases for military families.

Almost 2 years ago, our Sisters in St. Rita’s Health Center began cutting coupons from weekend newspaper ads.  Sisters sort the trimmed coupons between food and not food. Second, they sort them according to value amounts.

Next, coupons are given to Sister Jane Marie Loderbauer who rechecks and totals the amounts. Sister Jane Marie then brings them to her own sister Joan who lives in Sherwood, WI.  Joan prepares them for mailing and sends them to our adopted  army base in Hamburg, Germany where they are given to families.

Although service pay rates are no longer below the poverty level, they are in no way great for those raising a family.   Enlisted men, women and their families appreciate the coupons. Thus far the Sisters have shipped over $34, 000 in coupons. Click here to read more about this Overseas Coupon Relief Program.
