Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances, give thanks for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.    -1 Thes 5:17

Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve at St. Peter Mission Parish and School, Bapchule, AZ on the Gila River Reservation.

Priscilla Thomas documents some of the spiritual dimension of our ministry as we strive to educate students for life.

If high school and college students learn the important lesson of “praying always and never losing heart’ at an earlier age,  there is potential to grow in confidence, a caring spirit and the ability to cope with the stress of papers, projects, semester-end exams and relationships with a greater sense of  inner peace. In these young lives, prayer includes honest fears and failures expressed in heart-felt words of gratitude to a Loving God who knows us and our needs and inspires us to see the good in all things. Franciscan Sisters serving in AZ as well as in our other places of ministries, find the  parable of the persistent widow as a helpful source of reflection when teaching others about relating to God in the midst of real life.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up…

See Lk18.
