How do you best musically engage children from birth to 5 years old? Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Lorna Zemke, beloved music professor at our own Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, is featured in a new GIA Publication DVD Musical Motivators in Early Childhood.

Released at this time of the year when teachers are busy looking for new materials to enhance lesson plans, Sister Lorna provides props, toys and concepts that are the result of many years of not only interacting with young minds, but also parents and student teachers. Although this is Sister’s first DVD with GIA Publications, she is well known as a pioneer in music education. She is noted to be one of the first to introduce the music education approach of Zoltan Kodaly to the United States. She is the first to establish an undergraduate Kodaly music education program in our country.
