Here’s a Franciscan Advent Wreath Table Prayer

On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, WI. share their Advent wreath prayer complete with pictures in prayerful action. Sister Virgine Van Thull enjoys creating liturgical aids that encourage a strong faith-filled atmosphere among the Sisters. We look forward to the Second Week of Advent.

Advent Wreath Table Prayer

Here at St. Francis we have our own way of doing the Advent wreath.  When the Sisters are all seated at dinner time, someone intones “Prepare ye the way of the Lord..” (from Godspel).  Then the lights are turned out and a leader gives a short introduction.  After that, there is a short period of silence and the candle(s) are lit.  The concluding prayer closes this short ceremony and everyone goes on with dinner.
