Once I became aware of my calling to service, I realized it has been thriving in me since a young age. I started by accompanying my dad to his project sites when he served in the AmeriCorps in the mid 90’s. As a teenager, I was heavily involved in my youth group at church. My parents made fun of me saying that I practically “lived at church.” My high school years were spent at Yuma Catholic High School where I became a liaison, helping involve my fellow classmates in the volunteer events my dad coordinated annually. At Arizona State University, I was accepted into an international organization of scholars which highly valued community service. Una vez que me di cuenta de mi vocación de servicio, me di cuenta de que ha estado prosperando en mí desde muy temprana edad. Comencé acompañando a mi padre a sus sitios del proyecto, cuando se desempeñó en los AmeriCorps a mediados de los 90. Cuando fui adolescente, estuve muy involucrada en mi grupo de jóvenes en la iglesia. Mis padres se burlaban de mí diciendo que yo prácticamente “vivía en la iglesia.” Mis estudios secundarios tomaron lugar en Yuma Catholic High School, donde fui un enlace, ayudando a involucrar a mis compañeros de clase en los eventos de voluntariado que mi papá coordinaba anualmente. En la Universidad Estatal de Arizona, me aceptaron en una organización internacional académica cual valoraba y colocaba un enfoque en el servicio a la comunidad.
