115 years is no small feat. Holy Family Memorial sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Charity celebrated its 115th anniversary on Sept. 28 with a special Mass and reception in its on-site chapel. HFM was founded on Sept. 28, 1899, and was called Holy Family Hospital.
As part of its 115th anniversary week, Holy Family Memorial refreshed memories of a timeline of events on one of the walls in its corridors. Franciscan Sisters involved on its board of directors and General Administration took the time to review people, places and significant dates.
Later this week, among a variety of activities there is a Blessing of Pets event from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 4 in the parking lot off of Meadow Lane just northwest of the medical center, 2300 Western Ave. The founding of Holy Family Memorial was chosen close to the feast of St. Francis on October 4.
