During this Year of Consecrated Life, we hope to share some reflections by our Sisters. Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Carletta Christianson who celebrated her 60th jubilee of religious vows offers these comments.
“My first reaction when I reflect on sixty years living the vowed life; this is the frosting on the cake (and I do happen to like frosting)! I honestly cannot remember a single day in all these years when I have regretted my decision.
Mom used to tell us, “No life is a bed of roses.” Even when difficult days came, and of course it would not be realistic to think they would not, internally I was at peace. The thorns may have been a little tough to take off, but they did come off and the roses again appeared. There have been very many more roses than thorns. God’s blessings were abundant.”
