Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Mary Beth Kornely shares about a recent visit from Virgina Tech Volunteers to St. Gabriel Mercy Center, Mound Bayou, MS.

Franciscan Sisters welcome Virgina Tech students

This week we had 10 students from Virginia Tech who came during their Spring Break to help us here at Mound Bayou.  They were incredible workers and accomplished many tasks, despite rain all week.

Here is the thank you note they wrote to us.  They also wrote another wonderful note to all the staff at St. Gabriel.

Dear Sister Monica Mary, Sister Mary Beth and Sister Judanne,

Thank you so much for your indescribable joy, endless kindness, incredible hospitality, and delicious pastries.  The way you’ve given your lives to the people of Mound Bayou is inspirational.

Thank you for allowing us to get to know you and learn about ourselves through the way you live your lives.  You helped us so much more this week than we could describe through your charity and endless devotion.  We’ll try to bring back the things we’ve learned from you to Virginia Tech to better shine the love of Christ on our campus.  We love you!

In Christ,

The Virginia Tech Volunteers
