Do you have any interesting past times? One meaningful hobby of Franciscan Sister Caritas Strodthoff is being a gardener at Manitowoc’s Pinecrest Historical Village. Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside, this 60 acre outdoor settlement features over 25 buildings furnished from the hand-me-downs of Manitowoc County’s early settlers. It is less than a 10 minute drive from our Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Motherhouse.
Sister Caritas’ plot of land is near the print shop and bee keepers house. While sunflowers can be seen from a distance, the garden’s pumpkins will make a great addition to the town’s coming fall harvest fest.
Recently all volunteers were invited for a potluck meal at the Nennig Dance Pavilion. Sister Caritas extended the invitation to a few other Sisters to join her for the evening. All enjoyed seeing the ground preparations for the Meeme House Inn, a quick neighborhood walk in past times and, of course, helped water the Franciscan garden. Sister Natalie Binversie was also called upon to lead the meal prayer.
