What’s it like to be called to be a Franciscan Sister? Community Director Sister Natalie Binversie shares the call of Sister Margie Traeger. 
After graduating from High School, Margie and her sister, Doris, shared an apartment in Green Bay and got jobs at the Green Bay Food Company. She took classes at the Green Bay Adult Vocational School during these years. During those five years Margie thought that maybe God was calling her to be a Sister. She read a magazine, The Savior Calls, published by the Salvatorians and decided that she preferred the Sisters she had for summer classes. In The Green Bay Register she found a form to send in to get more information on joining the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Sister Una responded and Margie wrote the following letter dated August 11, 1957:
Dear Mother Superior:
I am writing to ask you to please send me some application papers and other necessary information because I would like to enter the Convent on August 25th. I have been thinking it over about joining the Convent ever since I sent you the coupon from the Green Bay Register and received your nice letter and pamphlets earlier this year.
I have been in Holy Family Convent several times looking at your beautiful religious articles. As you asked in the letter you sent me, I am a niece of Father Hubert Traeger who was your Chaplain at Holy Family Convent from 1943 to 1948. I hope to hear from you soon then, Mother Superior, and may God bless all of you at Holy Family Convent. Yours truly,
Marjorie Traeger
In a letter dated August 20, 1957, Margie’s Pastor wrote to Mother Edna:
Dear Venerable Mother,
This is to highly recommend Miss Marjorie L. Traeger, a member of this parish, as an aspirant to your sisterhood. She has been a frequent communicant and in many other ways has edified the congregation.
My prayerful wish to the Divine Spouse is that she persevere in her high ambition to be a credit to your Community. Respectfully Yours in Christ,
