On July 7, 2016 beginning at 7 a.m. Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity walked our own Mini-Camino. Significant places in our Community History were visited: Saint Nazianz, Clark Mills and then returning to our Motherhouse. It was a 21 mile pilgrimage! Young women and some of our international Sister students also joined us!
Our Sisters offered the walk in gratitude for the many blessings showered upon our Community since its foundation and for our present and future needs.
Quotes from Refining His Silver by Sister Teresita Kittell were read throughout the journey. Father Richard Klingeisen, pastor of St. Mary Parish, Clarks Mills, presided at the Mass said at the site of the birth of our Congregation. This passage was read:
Their first need was a convent. Again, it was Father Joseph (Fessler) who planned the location and purchased the land opposite the church in Clarks Mills facing the Manitowoc River where they already had a small three room cottage. He then purchased the lumber from the mill at Saint Nazianz and ordered it delivered to the site. As for the Sisters who were to live in that convent, he had high hopes for they were eager, self-sacrificing, religious-minded women… (p.22)
