Peacemaking will be the focal Franciscan value for 2016-17 academic year at the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity-sponsored Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, Manitowoc, WI. Artist Sister Mariella Erdmann designed peace poles for the Clare Hall Peace Garden on the college grounds in keeping with this theme.
The artwork symbolizes oneness with all peoples and our common desire for a world of peace. We are to think, speak and act in the spirit of peace and harmony. ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ is written along the sides of the poles. The brightly-colored tops of the poles image fire, earth, air and water.
