On August 28, 2016, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity-sponsored Silver Lake College of the Holy Family became the the first Catholic College in the United States to adopt the Work-College Model. SLC Works is the eighth college in the country to educate in this way and the only one in Wisconsin. 
This approach requires all full-time residential students to work in a professional role on the campus or in the community as a condition of enrollment. Work is thoughtfully integrated in a mind, body, spirit focus and therefore, a vital part of the educational program.
The work model very much resembles our Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity’s own way of serving. Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is built on our Sisters’ past and present selfless dedication. Each new full-time student living on campus will be awarded a work grant to offset a portion of tuition. Not only will this model reduce costs, but it will prepare students for the 21st Century workforce. At graduation, each student will receive a work transcript in addition to their educational transcript.
